Innocent - honest!

Last night we made some new friends and re-acquainted with some surprise guests - Rosh and Nosh arriving to join us on our 10 day tour that they had secretly booked and flown in for. All up, we had 16 people on tour - plus the chef John, driver Dumile and our guide ('the big man with the small voice') aptly named Innocent.

Hitting the road

We hit the road bright and early for the 700km drive over the Botswana border to Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Highlight of the drive was finding a chocolate bar called 'Nosh' - which Nosh bought and souvenired. Our big orange Gecko's bus was comfortable and everyone got some sleep and go to know each other in between naps. In no time we had crossed the border and arrived at KSR mid afternoon.

Rhino drive

Getting straight onto the safari vehicles, we hit a different road and into the park looking for the 33 white rhinos and 4 black rhinos in the park. Viewing impala, ostrich, warthogs and wildebeest could not prepare us for our encounter with the rhino, plodding along and through plains, babies in tow.

Starry night

At night we camped under the stars within the sanctuary, the clearest night we have ever witnessed - the constellations spectacular. A hot dinner and campfire got us talking about what brought each of us to Africa.
